Manufacturing of the UPBEAT Ti-6Al-4V fittings using Laser Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) is now underway. Using a Nikon SLM Solutions SLM280 HL system at SINTEF, layers of Ti-6Al-4V powder are selectively melted to build the components layer by layer, producing 10 fittings over a five-day build (video). During production, an in-situ Melt Pool Monitoring (MPM) system continuously captures data, providing valuable insight into build quality and supporting process stability. As part of the UPBEAT project, these activities contribute to the development of robust additive manufacturing solutions for future aerospace applications.
